Gender Equity Essay -- Essays Papers

Gender Equity Are male students and female student’s receiving the same opportunities when it comes to Math and Science in the schools? I don’t believe they are. This is why gender equity is a major problem facing our schools today. Many girls are having very negative attitudes towards Math and Science. Through doing research on this topic I found out why. In the article How Research Helps Address Gender Equity, a very shocking and eye opening thing was written. I learned that children as young as kindergarten already have formed set stereotypes about Science and Math. The boys in the class wanted to and believed that they could be Scientist while the girls in the class did not. They perceived being a Scientist as a mans job. As children get older and move up in their grades things don’t seem to be getting any better, only worse. A three year study was done in fourth, sixth, and eighth grade classrooms in four states and they discovered that teachers actually call on and give more feedback to boys. The teachers answer to this study was that boys were more demanding and they called out more then girls. However it was found that if girls act this way they were penalized for it (Sadker D, Sadker M, and Stulber L, 1993). Teachers also challenge boys if they give the wrong answer, and if girls give the wrong answer they are more apt to call on another person. I was surprised by this research because I hadn’t actually noticed these things occurring while I was in school, but now that I look back at it I realize that it did. Advantages and Disadvantages of Having a Big Family Essay

Nowadays more and more people tend to have only one child or not to have children at all. The reasons are different: some of them want to have more time to themselves, some want to get to the top in their career and some just don’t want to have such a big responsibility. Either big or small families have their advantages and disadvantages. Here are some of them. To begin with, children from bigger families are more sociable while the only child in the family may be a little bit too shy. It is said, that children who haven’t got any siblings and get a lot of love and attention from the parents, start taking everything for granted and become spoiled. I think, it depends not on the size of the family, but on parents and the way they are bringing their child up. And on the other side, in bigger families parents may have their ‘favourites’ and love them more than the others. It is completely wrong and may leave some of the siblings sad and miserable. Also, the more children people have, the harder it may be to provide them with food, clothes, education and other necessary things. For me, the option of having a big family is unacceptable. Even one child seems to be too much. I’m not quite mature and I don’t think I ever will be, and I realize what a huge responsibility the family bond is, so I won’t decide to have a child until there remains even the smallest shadow of a doubt. Also, I can’t imagine taking care of someone except myself and how I’m going to sacrifice all my freetime and interests, and hobbies, and lifestyle for the sake of constant cooking, clothes washing and house cleaning. And no matter how many advantages a big family has, I’m not going to change my mind.

Origins Of The American Civil War Essay - 1995 Words

There has been much historical debate over the true origin of The American Civil War, with some historians arguing that it was due to the rising Abolition Movement and others arguing that it was due to economic factors, such as the fundamental differences between the Northern and Southern economies. Many Historians tend to agree that although the war did not begin because of Slavery, it influenced the events and the outcome of the war itself, as the cause became one of emancipation when many Americans thought the primary aim was to restore the Union. Historiography of the Civil War doesn’t argue that the origins of the Civil War were purely economic and frequently the view of the Civil War as ‘a crusade against the evil of Slavery’ is rejected by historians due to other factors. The other factors to consider when examining the origins of the Civil War include political decisions such as The Missouri Compromise of 1820 and public reactions to them, economic differe nces between the two groups, and the Abolition Movement and its influence. In my opinion, I think that race had the largest influence in causing The American Civil War due to the rise and influence of the Abolition Movement. In my opinion, the origin of The American Civil War was due to conflicts surrounding the issue of race and race relations. For example, The Abolition Movement caused a huge division between Northern and Southern states. What Is Love - 1020 Words

Paulina Prado English 250 Tu/Thu 10/5/10 What is Love? Love is one of the most difficult words to define. I challenge you to try. You can even go the easy way and simply Google the word â€Å"love†. What you will find is not one but hundreds of definitions along with countless books, movies, and songs all having to do with love. The reason why it is so hard to define love is because there are different forms/stages of love and there are so many things that love can consist of. Also, love can have a different definition to every one of us. We all have different experiences and different beliefs which play an important role in how we think about love. Because our mind is designed to respond when stimulated it can lead us to believe that we just fell in love. The definition of love is impossible to define regardless of the hundreds of sources we can find on it. There is just too much to try and sum it up in a few sentences. It can also be different for every individual. To me love is a feeling that is unconditional. It is accepting another person for who they are and sacrificing the unthinkable for this person. Don’t be influenced or misled by outside sources or even by your own brain. Love has many faces. Over time, with experience and more knowledge I think everyone can create their own definition of what love is. About 2.2 million people in the U.S. every year do it when they pronounce their wedding vows. Predicting The Future Of The Department Of Homeland...

Playing the Market Predicting the future of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would be similar to predicting the stock market. Those who come close are successful enough to understand it can change on any given day. They do not invest all in one business sector, they learn to respect the market, and they look for trends to aid in their decision. Nothing is guaranteed with the stock market and nothing guarantees DHS will still be an establishment in the next 10 years. Who is to say we are not years away from global peace? Though until then we need to focus on every-day trends that affect the general public. The biggest issue DHS will need to address in the future is the rapid change in technology. Recently the Federal†¦show more content†¦The digital system was hacked and the hackers paralyzed it and disable the cars brakes at low speeds, along with gain control of the steering wheel (Greenberg, 2016). If discovered by someone with malice intentions, information could have been e xploited and cause horrific damage to Chryslers brand name. Another example involving the rapid change in technology with the auto industry involved Tesla. During hurricane Irma in 2017, Tesla remotely upgraded all their vehicles batteries in Florida to have a longer charge. Owners were able to safely travel longer distances without having to stop and charge so they could get out of the state sooner to avoid the storm (ODonnell, 2017). Whether the remote upgrade feature was publicly known, Tesla did right by their customers, however, the batteries reverted back after the hurricane. Again, if this feature was exploited it would put the public at risk of batteries being drained while traveling at 70 miles per hour on any given highway. A solution to address the use of technologies to inflict harm on the United States is an advisory council. Subculture Free Essays

Cortland Bolling Branham SOCI 1301 In the article â€Å"Authenticity in the Skateboarding World†, subculture is described as a completely separate culture with its own set of values and norms outside those of the world’s society. Skaters can be described as one of these subcultures because of their unique values, norms, and sanctions that differ from most sports. Unlike sports such as basketball the norm for skaters is their lack of interest in competition and trying to out due each other. We will write a custom essay sample on Subculture or any similar topic only for you Order Now According to Beal and Weidman the skateboarding community follows two central values, participant control and the devaluing of competition; many skaters explain that they chose to skate, and that they choose individually what’s acceptable. After interviewing more skaters the authors discover that like other cultures they also have their own sanctions. One example is that many of the skaters that are in it to look cool, or to be better than everyone else are looked down upon as not being â€Å"real skaters†, but instead conformist. While sports are a common spot for subcultures, they are not the only place they can be found and in fact most people belong to one. For example I am a member of a Baptist church. While it is true that Baptist are Christians just like Methodist and Catholics, we have our own sub subculture or set of values, norms, and sanctions that somewhat differ from the other Christian churches. In a Baptist church praise and worship is often very loud and up beat while at a Lutheran church they remain quiet unless spoken too and sing old hymns, so being loud would be considered rude and vulgar. Current Trend Of The Marketing Of Omni Channel Advertising - Samples

Question: Discuss about the Current Trend Of The Marketing Of Omni Channel Advertising. Answer: The present report discusses the current trend of the marketing leaders to embrace the Omni channel advertising. The omni-channel advertising uses the combination of different advertising channels to increase the brand awareness and drive the sales results. In the era of digital and internet media, the companies are using programmatic approaches in choosing the media channel (Busch, 2015). However, while choosing the media channels, the companies are choosing multi-channel media strategies; however, in order to develop Omni culture media strategy, the companies have to understand the internal and external challenges, which become a challenge in the omni-channel media buying. The report highlights that omni-channel advertising is a complex process as there are several internal and external challenges. The people are isolated in the channels, the business processes are immature and technical advertisement is saturated. The program and the standard algorithms can assist the programmers to analyze the consumer behavior. These programs allow the marketing executives to adapt to the dynamic customer behavior. The authors have also discussed that it is important to adopt the omni-present marketing channels; however, it is important to address the internal organization challenges to adopt these advertising approaches. In the external advertising, the companies must adhere to the advertising technologies, publishers and advertisement agencies (Joyce, 2016). References Joyce, R. (2016).
